"Thank
you all very much for another year of most enjoyable Companion
Cycling. Thank you also to the volunteers who so patiently
and kindly helped Charlotte and her friends from Woodlands
School who came in October to celebrate Charlotte's sixteenth
birthday. They had a super day."
Carolyn, Dec. 2007

"I
cannot speak highly enough about the Companion Cycling scheme.
We've been members since the scheme began in 1996, and have
enjoyed some really great cycling through both the summer
and winter months. As our teenage son has highly challenging
behaviour, we're extremely limited in where we can go, and
Companion Cycling has provided us with the ideal family activity.
Our son literally bursts with excitement when he sees "his"
familiar bike - I only hope the scheme never has to stop.
Huge praise must also go to the great team of volunteers who
run the scheme with incredible friendship and efficiency ..
long may it continue."

"I have been unable to drive a car or
ride a bike since my brain haemorrhage left me with partial
sight and severe weakness of the left side of my body. I was
so excited to discover Companion Cycling. Over the last 18
months various volunteers have helped me to rediscover the
joys of cycling and benefit from their cheerful company. I
never knew that Bushy Park was such a diverse park, and I
have been able to visit much more of it on cycle than I ever
would on foot. In the process I have become physically stronger
and my confidence has increased."

"I like to be out and about and for the
last few months I've been going cycling in Bushy Park every
Friday morning. I go with a few people from the JM Centre
with Angie and Ruth. We leave at about 10.30 and have a bit
of a picnic before we cycle. It's really nice. They have lots
of different bikes to suit everybody, even an electric one,
but I like to sit in the yellow one because then I can go
fastest. I like it best when one of the men helpers goes with
me so then we can go really quickly.
I do like to slow down sometimes and let the others catch
up and then I can look at the deer and the horses in the big
fields. There are lots of birds and big, big trees. I don't
get tired but I do sometimes get a bit hot. I don't mind because
the exercise is good for me."
